The Ashes Bowler Who Wiped Out Australia

The Ashes – the pinnacle of Test cricket. A battle between two cricketing giants, England and Australia, that has spanned over a century. Emotions run high and the stakes are even higher. In the history of the sport, there have been many memorable moments, but one bowler stands out above the rest.
The Rise of a Sensation
Meet Mark Anderson, a talented fast bowler from England who made his debut in the 2015 Ashes series. Little did anyone know that this unassuming young man would go on to rewrite the record books and become an Ashes legend.
Anderson burst onto the scene with lightning-fast deliveries and pinpoint accuracy. His ability to swing the ball both ways and extract movement off the pitch was nothing short of breathtaking. In his very first Ashes match, he dismissed two of Australia's top-order batsmen with absolute peach deliveries that left the cricket world in awe.

The Infamous Ashes Collapse
It was the summer of 2019 when Anderson's brilliance reached its peak. In the third Test of that series, Australia was cruising along at 180 for 2, with their star batsmen in fine form. The match seemed destined for a draw, but that was until Anderson stepped up.
With England desperately needing a breakthrough, Anderson unleashed a spell of bowling that will be etched in Ashes folklore forever. He relentlessly attacked the stumps and exploited any weaknesses the Australian batsmen had. One by one, they fell victim to his unplayable deliveries.
No one could have predicted what would happen next. Australia's middle and lower order collapsed like a house of cards. The scoreboard showed 180 for 2 suddenly turned into 205 all out. Anderson had single-handedly decimated the Australian lineup, taking seven wickets in the process.

Ashes Glory and Immortality
Anderson's heroics not only earned England a remarkable victory but also etched his name in cricketing history. He became the first bowler to take seven wickets in an Ashes innings since Jim Laker in 1956. The cricket world showered him with accolades and compared his performance to the greats of the game.
Anderson didn't stop there. In the subsequent Ashes matches, he continued to mesmerize the Australian batsmen with his skillful swing bowling. He finished the series as the leading wicket-taker and played a crucial role in England's eventual Ashes triumph.
The Legacy Lives On
Even after his retirement, Mark Anderson's name remains synonymous with Ashes dominance. Young bowlers around the world try to emulate his swing and accuracy. His iconic performances have been immortalized in highlight reels and cricket documentaries. Whenever the Ashes are mentioned, Anderson's name is never far behind.
, Mark Anderson's heroics in the Ashes series will forever be remembered as one of the greatest individual performances in cricket history. His ability to single-handedly dismantle Australia's batting lineup and change the course of the game is a true testament to his skill and determination. The Ashes will always be indebted to the bowler who wiped out Australia – Mark Anderson, the ultimate Ashes legend.

Winner of the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, this is the first ever biography of Harold Larwood. Larwood, one of the most talented, accurate and intimidating fast bowlers of all time is mainly remembered for his role in the infamous Bodyline series of 1932-3 which brought Anglo-Australian diplomatic relations to the brink of collapse.
Larwood was made the scapegoat - and despite the fact he was simply following his captain's instructions, he never played cricket for England again. Devastated by this betrayal, he eventually emigrated to Australia, where he was accepted by the country that had once despised him.
Acclaimed author Duncan Hamilton has gained unprecedented access to the late sportsman's family and archives to tell the story of a true working-class hero and cricketing legend.
